Gotta be warped...

Um...last night, I watched a movie with my dad.
Yep... we are the family that watches BADDER SANTA at Christmas - Need I dare say more.
So last night, my mom, dad and I sat down and watched CLERKS II.
OMG!
Now, My sister and I sat dad down to watch Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and he almost wet himself in the scene outside the Quick Stop when Jay raps "F, F, MF, F..." (THE MAN ACTUALLY REWOUND THE SCENE TO WATCH IT AGAIN!)
So we watch the beginning and all of us are laughing. And about 25 minutes into it...my mom gets up says "I'm going upstairs to take a shower. I've had too many "Fucks" for tonight"
Well...I did a Silent Bob double take to my dad and laughed out loud with him.

My mom doesn't use the F bomb often and when she does it is for full effect. I love my mom.

Well I finished the movie with dad. THE DANCE SCENE IS GREAT! And we both said..."OK, Miriam is going to love this at Christmas, but it's pushing the envelope"
YA THINK, DAD?!?!

I still can't believe what my mom said and I'm still a bit shocked that I sat thru the whole thing with my dad. At the end of the movie, my dad looked at me and with a straight face he said...
"Martha, I think we've warped you girls"
I laughed all the way home

Retail Hell part Deux

So at about 9:20 on Tuesday night... the Macy's store was closed and we were still open. Not a soul in the mall because who the hell is shopping after 9 pm in the mall.
I'm straightening the tables up front and all of a sudden I hear a man yelling at the top of his lungs...
THIS IS BULLSHIT
Well, ok, yes it is. And Mister...whoever you are, I owe you a big one. You hollared out what many of us think every day.
You see the mall has certian hours we must abide by EXCEPT the big name stores (Macy's, Sears Penny's, etc...)
We smaller stores and the kiosks must stay open.
AND the mall will fine you if you close early.
Needless to say...someone else was not happy with the concept of retail hours at the mall.
Keep checking... I'll keep letting you know the lovey things about retail hell.

RETAIL HELL PART 1

Holy Shit...I survived BLACK FRIDAY.
I saw people in line
I saw people fighting for items and most of all....I saw mullets
Yes, the women below are a bit of the sample of what I saw.
I AM NOT KIDDING HERE PEOPLE and they were
"Schweet"!!!!
Only 5 more weeks...it all ends at 5 pm on my birthday.
December 23 at 5 pm I will walk out the door and head for a birthday martini. The fact that I will be all done on my birthday is a gift in and of itself.

Happy Holiday's!!! WHOOO WHOOO!

Big Wishes

After a while, you just want to be with the one that makes you laugh.

AMEN

Your girl is lovely, Hubbell

I have got to be a masochist...I watched "The Way We Were" for the first time. DID I CRY?!?!?! Oh boy. I am not as political as Katy, but how I so resemble the fact: that when there is a man involved, I forget myself. I put things that are important to me on the back burner and drop everything to be with the guy. Ok, sometimes that is an ok thing, but when it hurts me, it doesn't really make any sense to do it. Katy did it for Hubbell...Carrie did it for Big. I did it.
So...there it is. And to quote Carrie: Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed. Maybe they're supposed to run wild until they find someone -- just as wild -- to run with.
Euphamistically....I'm buying a new pair of running shoes.

The G'tles

My family as the Beatles.
Now it isn't the correct Beatle personality to the body, but you have to laugh...My mom never goes barefoot and never ever smokes.
I'm John.
I am the walrus

WHO WILL BE MY YOKO ONO????

Elvis Sighting

My Bestfriend...as Elvis Costello.
He won the contest.
I love Elvis.

MY Thanksgiving dinner...

Now thanksgiving is here and if I were hosting dinner for the holiday there would be an assorted cast at the table...
Colin Firth would be at the right of me and John Cusack would be at the left. Miriam would be there and she'd bring Rick Springfield. John would bring Jeremy Piven and Colin would bring Hugh Grant. Then I would also have The Tucker couple, Mark and Erica and the whole wedding party, plus Emmy, Eric and Tracy, and Joey. Anyone else from the Corbin Crew could come too. James Spader and Tracy Ullman and Tony Bennett would sing and then I'd bring back Anais Nin and Princess Di back from the dead to enjoy the meal, and Bart Simpson and Bridget Jones would show up.
And Renaldo, the talking deer. You gotta have a talking deer.
What a great party...

Wedding fun

Hungry...

I've been having wierd cravings. NO...I'm not preggers. I just want certian "tastes". Really... Haven't you ever gone thru a phase or two of wanting something and eating it and then getting sick of the stuff. I have.
Right now...I want KUNG PAO.
I had a special lunch with a friend at PF Chang's. NUMMY...just hot enough for me(and the other person) and lovely stuff. I want more of that. Gotta find me a Chang's
And I love my "MIKE AND IKES"....the fruiter the better
And some good chocolate. I have been limiting myself on this... I'm on a diet and have been crabby lately, but working the hours that I have, it's not been bad. I've eliminated snacking so it helps.
What diet you say...the "RETAIL HELL" diet. I eat my carton of yougurt before I go to work. Drink my H2O all the time, as well as diet coke and then eat my Lean Cuisine for lunch and dinner with an extra yougurt for a treat. and maybe a snack size hershey bar. Just a taste. I've dropped 15 so it's gotta be alright....
But somebody tell me that my yearning for "Funyuns" and Cheeto Puffs is really really bad
and I'm so glad that I can't have an IN&OUT burger. Oooh.... Gotta go back to LA for that!

To the One I let go...

Billy Rose / Edward Eliscu / Vincent Youmans

More than you know
More than you know
Man of my heart, I love you so
Lately I find
You're on my mind
More than you know

Whether you're right
Whether you're wrong
Man of my heart,
I'll string along
I need you so
More than you'll ever know

Loving you the way that I do
There's nothing I can do about it
Loving may be all you can give
But darling, I can't live without it

Oh, how I'd cry
How I'd sigh
If you grew tired and said goodbye
More than I show
More than you'll ever know

I sang this song to him. And you know...the trip home was a lot less difficult and tear filled.
I'll always love him...simple as that. But it's just not meant to be. And that is ok.

A song for the heart

As those of you know...I'm a helpless/hopeless romantic.
Found a song that is getting me thru my fall and the start of winter
You might think that it's a song of yearning for a lover from the past. I look at it differently...I see this as a song of a person looking ahead to a new love...like the old, but different.
We are drawn to people for certian qualities, whether it be for a physical trait or just something about them. I also think that we have the capabilities for more than one "BIG" love.
So...this is my song of hope and idealism...for the possibilities that lay ahead.
(Thank you, Billie Holiday and Madaline Peyroux)

I'll look around
Until I've found someone
Who laughs like you

I know somewhere
Spring must fill the air
With sweetness just as rare
As the flower
That you gave me to wear
I look around
And when I've found someone
Who laughs like you
I'll know this love
I'm dreaming of
Won't be the old love

I always knew
I know somewhere
Love must fill the air
With sweetness just as rare
As the flower
That you gave me to wear

I look around
And when I've found someone
Who laughs like you
I'll know this love
I'm dreaming of
Won't be the old love
I always knew

Ahh...hopefully romantic. That's me.

Gulity Pleasures Revisited

I have this habit of listening to a song over and over...
Right now, I have about 5 or so that have been on my hit list.
1 - "Just to see you smile" by Chuck Prophet.
A happy happy tune brought to me by Mark and Erika
2 - "Stranger than Fiction" - Joe Jackson
JOE JOE JOE...another man of snarky lyrics.
3. "King for a Day" XTC
One of those songs you just can't help to dance to. A ska like song
4. "Time" - Alice Peacock
PRETTY PRETTY song. I love her whole new album
5. "Have you seen the moon tonight" - A girl Called Eddy
This album is a gem. The influences of Brian Wilson, Burt Bacharach, Dusty, Chrissy Hynde, Elvis C and many more are so evident on this cd. This is especially pretty...the lyrics are amazing too...particularly to a romantic like me.
TAA for now
